Zika Virus Update

The CDC is continuing to recommend that pregnant women refrain from traveling to areas with ongoing Zika Virus transmission (http://www.cdc.gov/zika/geo/active-countries.html) and Broward, Brown and Beach counties in Florida (http://www.cdc.gov/zika/intheus/florida-update.html) during their pregnancy. The CDC has recommended Zika Virus testing for ALL pregnant women (regardless of symptoms) who have traveled to an affected area within the past 2-12 weeks. Please call the office at 517-484-3000 if you have traveled to an affected area during your pregnancy.

Recommendations for individuals considering pregnancy: The current recommendation from the CDC is that women wait at least 8 weeks after traveling to an affected area and men wait at least 6 months before trying to conceive.
