Stacey Tanay, NP
I graduated from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana with my bachelor’s of science degree in nursing. While going through college and graduate school, I worked at St John Hospital in Detroit in the newborn and special care nursery and maternity departments. I spent a great deal of time assisting and teaching new mothers how to breastfeed. I enjoyed taking care of both healthy and sick newborns in the nurseries. I continued my education at The University of Michigan and graduated with my master’s of science in parent-child nursing. I became certified and licensed as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in 1996. I have been working as a nurse practitioner since that time. In 2002, I became a certified lactation consultant. I have used this in my clinical practice educating pregnant women about breastfeeding and treating those with breastfeeding problems. I feel that this added knowledge has enhanced my practice and helped me carve a niche in our office. I enjoy being able to incorporate this lactation piece into my practice.
I grew up in the Detroit area and have lived in Okemos since 1996. I have 3 children, all of which were breastfed! I enjoy the balance or working part time and being able to be a mother to my children as well. In my “spare” time, I enjoy exercising, reading, knitting and gardening.
